Burial and Headstone Databases
According to the oral tradition of Holy Cross, there was until a few decades ago a map on the office wall in the caretaker’s cottage showing many gravesites. No one knows when or how the map disappeared or whether any remnant of it remains.
On this page, we have a burial database showing who is buried at Holy Cross and a headstone database showing where those whose names are etched in stone were laid to rest. The headstone database was created in the early 2000s after all the stones were surveyed and photographed, the first project carried out under the leadership of Dr. Brian O’Brien. The burial database was established a few years later after a single volunteer, the late Trueman Tufts, transcribed the entire burial register.
In the sketch of Holy Cross shown on this page, within each Section row numbers begin at the lower (West) end, and within each row plot numbers begin at the left (North) end.
